Senior Lunch

San Ysidro Health’s East County Senior Nutrition Program provides hot, nutritious lunches for adults ages 60 and older in the rural Mountain Empire Area. As part of this program, seniors share meals with other older adults in their region, creating meaningful bonds and reducing social isolation. Senior Lunches will now be served in the community room of the library every Wednesday at 12:45pm. Please call 619-478-2384 for more

Lego Play

Feeding San Diego
1st and 3rd Thursday of the Month, 8:30am-9:30am Feeding San Diego is on a mission to connect every person facing hunger with nutritious meals by maximizing food rescue. Free food available for pick up in the parking lot of the library.

The Friends of the Descanso Library is a group of people who recognize and support the value of neighborhood libraries. We meet once a month on the 2nd Friday of the month. Meetings are open you to the public. We invite you to stop by and share in our enthusiasm for the library.

Scholarships
Our Shirley Somes Continuing Education Recipient
Victoria (Tory) Mellott received our scholarship for $500 for Continuing Education this year. Tory is attending Cuyamaca College and Kumeyaay Community College. She is learning cultural practices that will be helpful in conducting conservation efforts and also business classes. Combining the classes will help keep the family ranch as a sustainable business and thriving ecosystem for many years to come.
